General Overview
This Adventure was created and personally logged by Ross Bowden. Ross is a keen adventure rider with an extensive knowledge of the remote North Island track network.
The TTT Adventure is a 535 km route made up of the best gravel back roads, departing from Taupo, and then looping back to Taupo, via Te Kuiti.
For the adventurer looking to jam-pack as much awesomeness as possible in one day, then this Adventure is a great option.
For the adventurer that prefers to take the time to soak in the sights and take photos along the way, then this Adventure lends itself well to be done over two days.
This Adventure is suitable to adventure bikes of all types, and 4X4 vehicles.
Start/Finish Point
While this Adventure can be started at any point along the route, the natural start and finish point is Taupo.
All the information supplied relates to this Adventure starting and finishing at Taupo.
Terrain includes
This Adventure aims to include as many interesting gravel roads as possible meaning it will please any adventurer that appreciates scenic back roads.
While there are still a reasonable number of tarmac stretches, these in themselves are scenic, and enjoyable.
All the gravel roads in this Adventure are Grade 1 and present more of scenic value, than a challenge.

The maximum distance between fuel stops is 150 km.
Travel Time
SINGLE DAY OPTION:
Depending on current track conditions, and your preferred pace, each Leg will typically take between 4 to 5 hours. This means you are looking at a travel time of around 8 to 10 hours.
TWO DAY OPTION:
Depending on current track conditions, and your preferred pace, each Leg will typically take between 4 to 5 hours each day.
Accommodation
A natural point for accommodation is Te Kuiti. While the accommodation options are limited to motels, there are a few to choose from.

Access Permission
All roads within this Adventure are publicly accessible so access permission is not required.
Access Limitations
Rain will cause some sections of the route to become slippery and muddy, and while this will generally present no showstoppers, this Adventure is recommended for fine weather for the best experience - the views are spectacular on a clear sky day.
Safety
While this is not considered a technical route it does include a few semi-remote areas. For this reason it is recommended carry tools and spares for any trail side repairs, and carry an emergency beacon or satellite tracking device.
